Being Jesus to the Children of the World
We may not be able to physically go into all the world as Jesus commands us, but we can send His love to children in over 100 countries when we participate in Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse. Every year, our church joins with thousands of others to pack over 10 million shoe box size gifts filled with toys, toiletries, clothing items, shoes, and school supplies so that children in the far corners of the earth have the opportunity to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Every 24 hours, more than 30,000 children ages 2 to 14 hear the Gospel at shoebox outreach events. For every 100 shoeboxes distributed, 16 children report decisions for Christ. Every shoebox is an opportunity for a child, his family, his village, and his country to be impacted by the love of Jesus.
Most children who receive a shoebox also get a chance to take the Greatest Journey, a 12 week discipleship training program where children are trained by local church leaders to share their new found faith. In 2017, 1.9 million children reported decisions for Christ while in this program.
This year CBC has a goal of packing 600 shoeboxes. Will you help us reach our goal? We hope you will participate by picking up a shoebox (or 2) in the lobby. We are also collecting items for our church-wide packing party which will be held on the afternoon of Sunday, November 4th. Since it costs $9 to ship each precious shoebox, would you consider making a monetary donations to cover the shipping costs? Please bring in your shoeboxes by Sunday November 11th.
